The Kwara South People’s Network, a sociopolitical movement comprising stakeholders from the seven local governments of Kwara South, has officially endorsed Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, Deputy Leader of the Nigerian Senate, as its preferred governorship candidate in  Kwara State in the 2027 election.

According to Chief Hakeem Alani, National Chairman of the Network, the body took the decision after extensive consultations with political leaders, professionals, community associations, women, and youth in the senatorial district.

He said that the association reaffirmed its commitment to unity among political leaders, emphasizing that collective action is key to sustainable development and equitable representation.

Chief Alani, in a statement, said Senator Ashiru is the most widely accepted and credible choice among aspirants, capable of continuing Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahaman’s good work.

He noted that “while other aspirants are qualified, Senator Ashiru stands out as the strongest candidate.”

The Kwara South People’s Network highlighted Senator Ashiru’s achievements, to include infrastructure development, education advancement, skill acquisition, and accountability. His legislative impact, community development, and proven track record of electoral success position him as a formidable political figure.

“Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru is a loyal party man with the experience, capacity, and vision to lead Kwara State towards greater development and inclusiveness,” Chief Alani added.

The Kwara South People’s Network called party faithfuls in the south Senatorial Districts to have unity of purpose in selecting a sellable candidate whose electoral value the APC needed in winning the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.

He said, “The decision before the APC is not merely about selecting a candidate; it is about choosing the future direction of Kwara State. The party needs a flagbearer who embodies loyalty, competence, stability, and vision.

“Kwara people need a leader who understands governance, values unity, and can deliver measurable progress.

Distinguished Senator Yisa Oyelola Ashiru represents that combination.

“He is experienced without being complacent. He is influential without being arrogant. He is prepared without being experimental. He is progressive without being divisive.”
